Abstract
This study aimed to identify the effects of the use of reflective strategies on narratives and experiences of family members in situations of transgenerational intrafamily violence, from the Theory of the Self. The following specific objectives were developed: to identify the representation that family members have of violence and intrafamily violence; to identify their perception of the history of intrafamily violence they suffered and reproduce; and to identify changes in reports throughout the meetings. As a methodological option, we carried out a holistic descriptive case study, with a qualitative approach, having, as participants, three members of a family being monitored in the year 2021 in a Specialized Center for Social Assistance (SCSA) in Mosqueiro Island, administrative district of the municipality of Belém, Pará, in a situation of experiencing intrafamily violence. From the identification of a teenager, she, her mother and maternal grandmother were the target of intervention. As instruments for intervention and data collection, videos from the research group “Poetry in Everyday Life: Experiential Groups and Resilience”, from which this study is an offshoot, which are made available on the YouTube platform, and semi-structured interviews were used, furthermore registration in Social Assistance Unified System (SAUS) medical records, as documentary evidence. Three meetings were held with the family, the last of which had a monitoring function. As a result, it was possible to verify that the participants perceived and named contexts of violence present in the family history and considered them potentially harmful to the family relationship and individual development, which did not prevent them from reproducing them, which configures the phenomenon of transgenerationality. In addition, the expression of affection is presented as care actions with basic survival needs, but without the validation of hugs and other manifestations considered affective. In the third meeting, monitoring, we observed the presence of narratives of changes in family dynamics that the participants related to the reflections provided in the two previous meetings. We conclude that advances in awareness about the proposed themes and the perceived positive effects justify investments in carrying out studies that substantiate and expand the proposals for action by public agencies and other policies that are not just the National Social Assistance Policy (NSAP).
