We are JOSHA
Deine Plattform für inspirierende Inhalte und kreative Ideen.
The Journal of Science, Humanities and Arts (JOSHA) is a multilingual, multidisciplinary, non-profit, open access journal committed to democratizing knowledge across the globe. Dedicated to publishing all forms a wide range of scholarly, including research articles, textbooks, essays, interviews, audio and video materials, JOSHA embraces different fields such as medicine, social sciences, life sciences, artificial intelligence, visual and performative arts. Supported by IASHA e.V., BioThera Roland Mertelsmann Stiftung, and voluntary donations, all content is freely accessible.
Guided by the principles Creative Commons Attribution License 4.0, JOSHA’s mission is to promote equitable access to scientific and artistic knowledge, ensuring that innovative work is available for learners, researchers, and communities in Global North and South. Authors retain full copyrights of their work, while granting JOSHA permission to publish and disseminate it openly, fostering a culture of academic freedom and circulation of ideas.
JOSHA offers a distinctive publishing ecosystem designed to support authors at every stage. Providing formal publication with DOI assignment, allowing authors to enhance the visibility, citation potential, and long-term accessibility of their work, JOSHA gives contributors full autonomy over their collaborations.
A key characteristic of JOSHA is its commitment to timely and unbiased publication. By abstaining from traditional peer review, the journal accelerates the sharing of original research and creative content. By doing so, researchers can publish without undergoing stringent academic review processes, which may be often resistant to new ideas and emerging scholars, contributing to phenomena such as the Semmelweis effect. JOSHA is indexed in Google Scholar, Crossref, Microsoft Academic, WorldCat, and other directories, ensuring broad international reach. Beyond publication, JOSHA organizes the Demetrios Awards, an esteemed annual prize in partnership with IASHA e.V. and the BioThera–Roland Mertelsmann Stiftung. The award grants prizes for the best Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral theses, aiming to honor and celebrate academic excellence, by recognizing outstanding research, the power of scholarly work to drive innovation and create a lasting impact on society, as well as to acknowledge the dedication and contributions of emerging scholars and to showcase their groundbreaking research to a global audience.
