Abstract
This article was written by the cross-media journalist Christian Ignatzi from Germany, and cover the work of a medical doctor who feels a huge passion for the visual arts. This article is about how the medical director of the Freiburg Clinic for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Prof. Dr. Dr. Rainer Schmelzeisen, has a bright hobby in addition to his profession. He creates light art in which he transforms his photographs of places all over the world into works of art for the senses and builds a bridge to his profession. He explains the origin of his passion: "I have always had great pleasure in light art and video art".
